Meet Lisa Hancock
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lisa Hancock. I am a wife and mother of two daughters, ages 17 and 28 years old. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor who completed my Bachelor of Arts in Social Services from Belhaven University in 2014. Shortly afterwards, I pursued my Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. After completing my practicum and graduating in 2017, I completed a 3000-hour post-graduate internship.
In my career as a counselor, my clients have consisted of adults (groups, individuals, and families) who struggled with chemical dependency and mental health issues such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I currently work in private practice, counseling children, adolescents, and adults facing anxiety, depression, anger, and low self-esteem, among other mental health challenges.
An idea of what you can expect at your initial visit with me will incude completing an intake assessment which will help me to get to know you better. This will consist of personal information such as biological, psychological, and social histories, as well ascurrent situations. It normally takes approximately 50 minutes to an hour to complete. With this, I will be able to target specific issues that may be problematic for you and work with you to create personalized counseling goals. I utilize eclectic psychotherapy which includes a combination of theoretical approaches, or multiple sets of techniques, to most meet the needs of my clients.
